My husband hated the scratchy background and it seemed cold, whereas my original drawing done on location in my small sketchbook, has the yellow green background. (there was a hillside behind the tree). I like the sunny feel of the second one.
Teri is right, the bluebird needs more emphasis.Elva Paulsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08642197019054496596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7061571236470916248.post-5398817067133234542010-07-15T07:13:17.247-04:002010-07-15T07:13:17.247-04:00Hi Elva!

It's more intimate; the placement of the tree cavity makes me feel like I am following the bird right into the nest.

I think the blue version works for a larger size painting.

Both are great!Elizabethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12304349794622823797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7061571236470916248.post-29711667206130343202010-07-14T10:26:43.850-04:002010-07-14T10:26:43.850-04:00Quite honestly I love everything you do, however, ...Quite honestly I love everything you do, however, I definitely love the first version! but I think the bluebird needs to be darkened just a little to bring him forward.Terihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16029722057577018059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7061571236470916248.post-9704967343006410162010-07-14T09:04:51.828-04:002010-07-14T09:04:51.828-04:00Hi Elva, I honestly love more yellow version as it...Hi Elva, I honestly love more yellow version as it is the great contrast for the blue bird. However, the blue version is carying different message (in my opinion of course). Seems to be that a blue version is all about the tree and the air, the little birdy is a little lost. In the blue piece I love the selection of the format. Long tree, long format. Great Job!!
