As for the flower portion I can see the delicate petals a bit more in the second image.Claire Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10422062718551034294noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7061571236470916248.post-5210417477569911522010-01-05T07:20:56.657-05:002010-01-05T07:20:56.657-05:00Wow, Teri, at first I thought the top image was yo...Wow, Teri, at first I thought the top image was your reference photo! Amazing.

I do like the close-up of the bottom image, with all the detail you put in there.

I'm no help with backgrounds, but I like what Laure said about it.

I agree about the paper too. I have a handbook and an Aquabee and much prefer 140 lb watercolor paper, but still trying to work within the limitations of my sketchbooks.

Great job, Teri!Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05540050745681475664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7061571236470916248.post-80358496680676476412010-01-04T11:37:18.561-05:002010-01-04T11:37:18.561-05:00...maybe because I don't know what the plant l......maybe because I don't know what the plant looks like and I've never seen the blossom, I like the painting. I see the difference in the closeup, but I still like the big painting!Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02263405659108175434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7061571236470916248.post-49251219374571071452010-01-04T09:47:19.603-05:002010-01-04T09:47:19.603-05:00These are fun, Teri! Do you see something darker? Another cactus behind the bloom? A deep blue sky? A little of both? Something else?

Leave the safety of the photo ref behind and try something different! Do what you think the image needs.Laure Ferlitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14966163843633158039noreply@blogger.com
