CathyO, #32 and 33, Mt. Hood

We have been having cloudy, rainy days lately but Mt. Hood popped out of the clouds the other after and I rushed outside for a pleasant few hours of plein air painting.

Liz Cutler # 68 Oil on plywood panels, plein air

We went to the Samoset in Rockland ME for a conference. The Farnsworth Museum was amazing. All those Wyeth paintings makes me want to try egg tempra. I was painting sitting by the breakwater painting clouds when all of a sudden a storm hit, the specks are sand from the faceplant my painting did.

Painting #38 - More Plein Aire

This is another plein aire painting I did in Sedona.  There was a Serenity Garden right next to the motel so I sat there in the sun and painted these stone animals and few trees.
It was not only a joy to be painting but I enjoyed the serenity of the place.

Painting #28 Plein Air Sketch

Last Sunday we went to a Fiddler's Contest in an open air park so it gave me a chance to do some plein air sketching.
We go to this every year and I always do some sketching.  The difference this year is, I did not use ink lines first but rather pencil to lay things out.  As I look at this I wish I would have used ink first.
I was intrigued with all the things this boy had laying around him and it became quite a challenge to get it all in.
