#55 Fortune Cookies, #56 Flute - Sheryl Hawkins
Practicing reflections and shine again- this time with my mom's flute from high school. Lots of details, but I tried not to get too caught up with painting them all. The left-over fortune cookies just looked like a still life waiting to be painted.

Sheryl I like how you treated the fortune paper from the cookie with it's shadow with just enough detail.
Kudos for those reflections and shadowing on the flute that make it look like I could just pick it up and play (if only I knew how...). The rough surface of the cookies by comparison also are conveyed really well. Their fragile little edges are great. (I do know what to do with those -- Yum. Flute and cookies concert!!
The flute is amazing with the details of the physical structure and the wonderful reflections. What a special painting.
The fortune cookies look quite real to me with all of the color variations that you've captured.
Very fun to see your work!!
We went to an antique market on Memorial day and I saw flutes, saxophones, and clarinets and thought—painting! And here you are—nicely done. Will you add any kind of environment for this?
Love the cookies! Nice work on the paper especially.
Thank you- Dora, Lorrie, Claire, and Laure! Laure, I want to make a more complete still life with the flute for my mom with some other memories of hers.
That should turn out to be an awesome painting. You've done such an excellent job of rendering the flute, that I would love to see it in an environment to give it more impact.
Leaving it on the white like this would work, but I would be inclined to add a really long shadow to dance across the paper as well.
I look forward (if we get to see it) to the painting!
...very cool, Cheryl! I love the flute. It's gorgeous and the fortune cookies are fun! You really nailed the colors and shading!
Thanks, Laure- I just wasn't sure how much to add, I will show it when I have added to it!
Thanks, Kelly!
nice job on both images. Love how you create detail without creating details, leaving our eye to fill in.
Great job on both.
