I'm taking an online class with Alyson B. Standfield called Blast Off! to help push the art making and art business. The first four small paintings are affirmation cards with things I want to work on. The painting ideas popped out of my head and are things I like to paint.

The last is a small self portrait from a recent visit to a museum nearby on the hiking trail. I liked the photo and just used it to keep painting something.

  1. Dora I really like this self portrait. There is so much neat watercolory play going on in your hair and in the decor around your neck (flowers?). It's nice to see a likeness of you!

  2. Thank you Lorrie, it's my scarf around my neck. This is a small surface and I drew myself in a little squished and narrow but it's still me!

  4. Very cool scarf. I'm a scarf person also. Well Dora you've made it past painting 50! Congratulations!! Can you believe it? I'm still in the 60s after what seems like ages... I very much enjoy the challenge even though my good intentions of posting daily or every other day doesn't happen. But I am painting a lot! Am looking forward to being in the 80s!! Imagine that, right?!?! Keep up those affirmations--a great idea.

  6. The self portrait sort of looks like me. The photo I used for reference is on my blog if you want to see "me".
I made it past 50 paintings and it's an accomplishment, but I won't make it to 100, this year at least. I will try again!
