This is a technique I have been wanting to try for a while, that is painting with acrylic on wood panels. The subject choices you might recognize, but it was a fun process for my transparent paint strokes.

That' so effective. Did you seal the wood first or was it straight onto the bare surface?
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting idea! Your choice of natural objects suits this very well!
ReplyDeletebeautifully different idea...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the positive response! As far as sealing, the wood says it is laminated and factory sanded, but the surface is pretty dry. I painted a layer of acrylic gesso beneath the paint, but otherwise didn't do anything.
ReplyDeleteThis brings back memories of when I used to paint on bits of driftwood / bark / even old saws. I often covered my surface with acrylic matte varnish before starting. What you did worked just fine. Beautiful detail on both the pebbles and the feathers.
ReplyDeleteHow simple and stunning.
