Lorrie #76 - Monterey Old Wharf

Monterey Old Wharf, watercolor and pen, 18 x 22 inches
This is a portion of a larger painting that was pretty ambitious... there is a lot of detail in the wharf in Monterey and I chose to leave most of it out... including any sign of humans! Preferred to turn it over exclusively to sea lions and a harbor seal!

What fun to find your painting today. I find it extra fun to see paintings of locations that I am familiar with. I've visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium many a time as a family, and as a school chaperone years ago. You have captured the wildlife very well in their home setting. Nice job with the rocks and water as well. I commend you for tackling the buildings and knowing how to simplify and focus - they intimidate me. Nicely done.

I like how your sealions look into the painting and tie it all together. Well done.

Nice colors. I like the balance of warms with turquoise. Like Claire it is fun to see your rendition of a place I have been.

I, also, enjoyed seeing Monterey again thru your eyes! The sea lions are great!
