Lorrie #68 - Raven Tree

Raven Tree, watercolor 8 x 10 inches
Elva's lovely painting of a pair of ravens in a frosty forest reminded me of this painting I did a month ago. I was experimenting with tree shapes and making the smaller branches by blowing at puddles of paint placed along the larger branches. Ravens are abundant where I live and I wanted to put a few into the scene. It's very likely that you'll be seeing more of them in paintings to come....

...you're lucky. We don't have Ravens in our area. I wold love to be able to go out and see a tree full of ravens! Loved your description of how you created the branches--very cool!

Nice distinction between the background and foreground. Your ravens look great too! Creative way to construct a tree and great color variation in the branches. Makes for a very interesting painting.
