Lorrie # 69 and #70 -- Stormy Saturday at West Cliff, & Surf Riders

Stormy Saturday at West Cliff, watercolor 5 x 7 inches
It was windy and rainy at the coast today, but also sunny and clear sometimes! I put paints in the car and drove down to West Cliff Drive (Santa Cruz) but wasn't really in the mood to paint after all--and juggle the materials while sitting in the driver's seat (it was too blustery to paint outside). Finally though, when these two people stopped right in my view, I took the chance to sketch them.
Surf Riders, watercolor 5 x 7 inches
Another bit of the stormy Monterey Bay today. There is no end to the practice and challenge that the ocean presents... !

both your coastal paintings caught the blustery feel of winter along the coastline. I especially like both the clouds and water of the bottom one.

I love the gesture and composition on the top one. I can just feel the chill on the one below.

The top one - I feel like I'm at the coast. I like the composition- the ocean, musician and the audience of one.

Beautiful, beautiful. I really get a sense of the wind, cold, and scent of the sea from these images. I thought your words in 'There is no end to the practice and challenge that the ocean presents... ! ' were wonderful! Best wishes to you on your sketching. I want to wander over there some day and give it a try.
