Kelly - Painting #18 - Red-bellied Woodpecker Eating Greenbriar Berries

I watched this female Red-bellied Woodpecker eating these beautiful blue greenbriar berries early last November. It was such a pretty sight I knew I'd eventually turn it into a painting.

I love the contrast between the round berries and his barred back. Very nice, Kelly.

Kelly, this is lovely! I love these birds--so cheerful with their red mohawks ; ). I really like the was you've portrayed the solidity (weight?) of the bird and the berries with the delicacy of the leaves and branches~~

Awesome work Kelly! You capture the expressions of the birds so well. I admire your true to life compositions.
