Kelly - Painting 38

(Watercolor, 9x7 Arches Cold Pressed 140 lb Paper)

I painted this little wildflower in the field. I wanted to see how quickly I could get something down and have it still be vaguely recognizable! I was able to get this painting of a Wild Phlox down in just under four minutes. I was using a very "wet" water brush and flew with the color... It was fun.

This is beautiful - so soft and delicate. Very nice!

Delicate was the first word that came to mind also! So simple and lovely. Are the flowers done in cobalt blue and alizarin red, perchance?

thanks, Claire! You know I'm not a delicate painter, but I liked this quick and light painting. I want to try more delicate painting, because I always love seeing others' delicate work!

Lorrie...thank you! I guess because I did it so fast, I didn't have time to go in and darken it up like a normally do! I want to do more delicate stuff. I used Cobalt Blue and Quin Magenta...

Nicely done, Kelly! Four minutes! I never paint in the field, always inside- a bit different I would imagine.
